Yes, Words for Kids requires a comprehensive evaluation before beginning therapy services. Evaluations provide important baseline data on your child. It provides information that assists in creating a plan of care and individualized goals based on your child’s communication needs. An evaluation completed at another facility may be accepted if it was conducted less than 6 months and all areas of concern were evaluated.

As per our cancellation policy, we ask for a 24-hour notice. If last-minute cancellations happen repeatedly we will work with you to determine if another therapy time or teletherapy is a better fit.  Cancellations made without at least 24-hour notice, or no-shows will be charged a full session fee.

We require an evaluation unless your child has had an evaluation in the past 6 months. We will review your previous evaluation and will let you know if the report contains enough information for us to begin services. If we determine the report contains enough information we will accept it and schedule a re-evaluation within 6 months of the last report. If the report is older than 6 months from the current date a new evaluation will be performed.
